Q: What does Terminal
mean in the context of licensing?
A: In licensing terms, Terminal
refers to an end-product or service that utilizes the OneImlx.Terminal
framework. This end-product could be an application, service, or any system that integrates the OneImlx.Terminal
framework to offer terminal-based functionalities or command-line interface features to its users.
Q: What does Redistribution mean in the context of licensing?
A: Redistribution refers to the deployment of an end-product or service to external end-users or customers. The Client must acquire the appropriate Redistribution License for each deployment as part of an External Product.
Internal and External Products
Q: What is the difference between Internal and External Products?
A: Internal Products are developed and used solely within the Clients organization and are not distributed to external customers. External Products are those developed by the Client and distributed to end-users or customers outside the organization.
Q: Do I need a special license for Internal Products?
A: No special license is required for Internal Products as long as the employee limit of your chosen license is not exceeded. Redistribution licenses are not necessary for Internal Products.
Q: What type of license do I need for External Products?
A: For External Products, you need a Redistribution License. This allows the deployment of the Application as part of your end-product to external end-users or customers.
Q: Can I host External Products on my customers infrastructure?
A: Yes, External Products can be hosted on your customers' infrastructure, but this requires the purchase of a Redistribution License for each deployment.
Q: Can my customers or affiliates develop their own products using my license?
A: No, the Application license is strictly for your organization's use. Customers, affiliates, or third parties cannot use your license to develop their own internal or external products.
On-Premise Deployment
Q: What is an on-premise license?
A: An on-premise license allows External and Internal Products to be deployed in isolated or secured facilities, typically without internet access. The on-premise license is self-contained and does not require ongoing internet validation.
Q: Do I need a subscription for an on-premise license?
A: Yes, an active monthly or yearly subscription is required throughout the on-premise license period. If the subscription is canceled while the license is still valid, it results in non-compliance with licensing terms.
Q: How long is the on-premise license valid?
A: The on-premise license operates offline and is valid for a set duration, typically 3 or 5 years, depending on the agreement.
Q: What happens if I cancel my subscription during the on-premise license period?
A: If the subscription is canceled while the license is still valid, you will be in non-compliance with the licensing terms. You may be required to provide proof that you have stopped using both the application and the license upon request.
Organizations, Service Vendors, and ISVs
Q: Does a separate business unit within the same organization require its own license?
A: Yes, if the business unit operates in a different geography, a separate license is required for that unit. This ensures that each entity complies with the licensing agreement tailored to its specific location and use case.
Q: We're a service vendor developing a product for an organization. Who needs a license?
A: In cases where a service vendor is developing or integrating an External Product for an organization, the organization must hold the appropriate license (including Redistribution License if needed). The vendor does not require a separate license unless they are independently using the framework for their own products or services.
Q: Can an ISV who develops end products with the OneImlx.Terminal framework redistribute it as part of their license?
A: Yes, an ISV is permitted to redistribute the framework as part of their licensed agreement, provided that they have purchased the appropriate Redistribution License for each deployment to end-users.
